Mor Thiem: Master Drummer
He’s a griot from Senegal, internationally known for his phenomenal drumming.
I met Mor Thiem in 1990, while attending a Katherine Dunham workshop in East Saint Louis, Missouri. Mor Thiem was one of many percussionist who participated at this annual event; along with dancers and choreographers from around the country and abroad.
Years later, we met again at the Smithsonian Institution where he was performing with noted jazz pianist, Don Pullen’s African Brazilian Connection. They were electrifying!!!
